The Coventry born attacking midfielder is the heartbeat of Brendan Rodgers’ side and only a crazy offer could convince the Foxes to relinquish their star player

The identity of Tottenham’s potential seventh signing of this summer’s transfer window currently remains largely unknown.

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici have certainly been one of the busiest owners and football sporting directors respectively so far in the European landscape as they have backed manager Antonio Conte with six new signings already. Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence was the latest to arrive and join up with the squad on their pre-season tour of South Korea. So far this summer, all of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and now the 21-year-old will make up the foundation of a very strong Lilywhites squad for 2022/23.

Despite the good start the north Londoners have endured to this summer’s transfer window, there is even more scope for further improvement as Conte aims to collate a full squad that could mount a shock title challenge against Liverpool and Man City. To do this, a new attacking midfielder who could play in different formations and positions could be key this summer if both Premier League title favourites for next season were to really notice Tottenham and the threats they could pose to the status quo.

Christian Eriksen was an option earlier on in the summer but Man United were able to poach the Danish star. Elsewhere, Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo is a reported target whilst Leicester City’s James Maddison remains a possibility, maybe not this summer but certainly the next one.

It is understood that whilst Leicester’s number 10 has two years to run on his current contract, the Foxes will not consider a sale unless an offer that is too good to turn down is presented their way. Instead, his teammate Youri Tielemans is more likely to move on amid Arsenal and Man United speculation.

The Telegraph have reported that Leicester do have some long-term issues with their wage bill and this could lead to a few big stars departing the King Power in the foreseeable future. Could this open up an avenue for Paratici to potentially test the waters with their Premier League counterparts?

If they were to make an offer this summer which would need to succeed his current market value of £45million, Spurs would be signing a player that posted similar attacking figures to Paris Saint-Germain star duo Lionel Messi and Neymar.

This is because, as per, ‘Maddison played a direct hand in as many goals as Leo Messi (20) and more than Neymar (19) in the league last season.’

Currently, no move for the 25-year-old is imminent on Tottenham’s behalf with the main focus now on moving on a few squad players to balance the books and to ensure that Conte isn’t to start the new season with a top-heavy squad.
