The defender may have to force the issue as Leicester play hard-ball in regards to the fee being negotiated between the two clubs

Wesley Fofana has dropped a major transfer clue as the Leicester City star starts to think about forcing the issue with the defender currently ‘frustrated’ by the Foxes’ stance amid a Chelsea stand-off.

It’s been well known for some time now that the 21-year-old is Thomas Tuchel’s next dream signing not only to complete his defensive re-jig this summer but to change the age ‘profile’ and dynamic going forward for the next few years. “We could use one more central defender; if you look at the numbers and that we play with a back three,” Tuchel said before Spurs in his pre-match press conference. “The profile of the guys in the three is a little bit different, I admit.

“We can play with Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta), who is more a full-back than a central defender. (Marc) Cucurella, it’s possible too [to play on the side of a back three]. Both of them cannot play as the middle central defender. So we could use one more central defender. Let’s see what happens.” With this in mind, new owner Todd Boehly alongside trying to make progress on the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal, is focussing in on making what he sees as an acceptable and hopefully final next offer to Leicester for the French defender. The Blues have already seen two bids turned down.

football.london understands that a total fee agreed would have to eclipse the Harry Maguire record-breaking fee when all add-ons are taken into account.

Even with Chelsea having the ambition to construct this deal, the player in question himself is starting to become impatient with how long everything is taking. football.london also understands that Fofana feels ‘frustrated’ that the East Midlanders are pricing him out of a deal and he has asked the club to accept the next bid. Otherwise, we could be getting into the remit of transfer requests at this late stage.

Personal terms have already been agreed and Leicester’s number 3 has agreed to continue playing for Brendan Rodgers’ side despite his mind being elsewhere. In the Brentford game, his body language was a bit off but in the most recent loss to Arsenal, the Les Bleus hopeful dropped the biggest hint yet that he wants to move away.

This was because, after the full-time whistle, he went over to the travelling supporters on his own to almost say goodbye. Add onto this now his altercation in the car park with a few Arsenal supporters who despite trying to make a William Saliba pitch, failed their late attempt.

In a video posted on social media, via Sport Bible, one of the fans instructed: “Don’t go to Chelsea, whatever you do in your career, okay!

“You are going to wait for Arsenal bro. You and Saliba at the back. Wesley, you support Arsenal!”

To which, just before getting in his car to head off back home, he gave the lads a smile for their efforts but said nothing in response.
