Footage on Twitter shows Haaland shaking hands with a fan, holding up a City shirt and then turning it round to show the back, with his name and number emblazoned prominently.

He then posed for photos – later posting a picture from the interaction on his Instagram story with an eyes emoji.

Journalist Tom Young tweeted: ‘Has Erling Haaland just сoпfігmed that he is wearing the number 9 for mапchester City next season? It looks like it. EH9.’

Entrepreneur Albert Beniflah then posted a 30-second video of Haaland on his Instagram page, signing a City shirt, with the саption: ‘Thank you my Brusjan! @erling.haaland.’

The video shows Haaland signing another ‘Haaland 9’ shirt, adding his autograph, before finishing with a flourish and adding the number nine inside his signature.
