Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Sunday, August 6.

Every word Antonio Conte said on Sessegnon, Perisic and why he didn’t start new Spurs signings

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur got their season off to a flying start with a 4-1 opening day win over Southampton.

While Spurs went behind on 12 minutes to a James Ward-Prowse strike, Conte’s side rallied quickly, with goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier helping them take a 2-1 lead before the break.

A Mohammed Salisu own goal and a Dejan Kulusevski strike in the second half settled proceedings, with Spurs taking all three points from their opening day fixture.

And it was a result that had Conte in a buoyant mood.

Summer signing Ivan Perisic has described the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room as “amazing”.

The Croatian joined Spurs earlier this summer from Inter Milan in a move that saw him reunited with his former manager Antonio Conte.

The 33-year-old made his Spurs debut on Saturday, coming off the bench in Tottenham’s 4-1 opening day Premier League win over Southampton.

And has Perisic revealed he feels as though he has been part of the Spurs dressing room for nearly five years, such is the warmth and positivity the Croatian has been met with.

“It has been amazing, Everything has been really positive,” Perisic said in Spurs’ matchday programme.

“Really. I’ve found myself in the dressing room like I’ve been here for five years already. The group is amazing. A lot of nice guys and quality players. They’ve helped me a lot from the first day. I’m really enjoying it.”

5 things spotted in Tottenham vs Southampton

There was plenty to talk about in Spurs’ opening day 4-1 win over Southampton.

Despite falling behind early, they rallied fast through Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier, who scored in quick succession to give Spurs the lead.

One of the notable talking points around the opening day fixture was the omission of Spurs’ new summer signings.

While Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Clement Lenglet all made their debuts, none were handed a starting berth by Conte. Djed Spence was also named on the bench, but did not come on. But what else might you have missed?
