Paris Saint-Germain is getting their season off on the right path with the capital club defeating FC Nantes 4-0 on Sunday to lift the Trophée des Champions, the first trophy of the 2022-23 campaign.

The current Ligue 1 champions opened up the scoring floodgates against the French rival. Lionel Messi, who had trouble finding the back of the net last season, is ensuring it was a one-off.

Messi opened up the scoring for PSG, scoring on a beautiful dribble to get by the goalkeeper and fire into an open net to get the first goal of the game and opened the floodgates for three more goals in the lopsided win.

After the game, Neymar Jr., who scored a brace in the matchup, discussed the victory with Canal Supporters relaying his remarks when he was asked about a new Messi at PSG ahead of the new season.

“No, no, I don’t think so,” Neymar said. “People talk a lot without knowing what is going on inside the club. We see it every day; Lionel Messi remains Lionel Messi.”

“He will not change and will always remain a player who will make a difference. I hope we will stay like this season and that everything will go well for me, Leo and Kylian. If all three of us are good, PSG will be good.”

Neymar also hopes to use this game to get off to an excellent start to the Ligue 1 season ahead of the FIFA World Cup in November.
