Arsenal transfer news: Goalkeeper Bernd Leno appears to be closing in on a move to Marco Silva’s Fulham

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is closing in on a move to newly-promoted Fulham.

The German international had slipped down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, becoming second choice shot-stopper to Aaron Ramsdale last season. Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leno will undergo a medical at the Cottagers this week before completing an £8 million deal to sign for Marco Silva’s side.

Writing on Twitter, Romano said: “Bernd Leno will undergo medical later this week as new Fulham player. He will sign until June 2025 with option included for further season.”

“Full agreement with Arsenal worth £8m fee completed yesterday. It will be official this week.” The Gunners have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window in terms of incoming, signing five-first team players for over £110 million combined.

Former Manchester City duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus have arrived in north London, as well as talented playmaker Fabio Vieira, young winger Marquinhos and experienced ‘keeper Matt Turner. Still, manager Mikel Arteta has admitted he still wants to add one or two more pieces to his squad over the next four weeks.

“We are still hoping to do something else if the market allows,” Arteta said over the weekend. “You have seen some movement in the last few days as well.

“We want to get the perfect balance and the plan we wanted from the beginning. Whether we accomplish that or not is another story.”
