Antonio Conte ruthlessly ‘banishes’ four Tottenham stars from training
Tottenham began their Premier League campaign with a 4-1 win over Southampton but they did so without four players who were not included in Antonio Conte’s matchday squad
Antonio Conte has excluded four Tottenham stars from training with the first-team as the club continues to look for buyers before the end of the window.
Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso have been working alone since Spurs returned from their pre-season tour of South Korea after Conte was told he can only coach a certain number of players. According to the Evening Standard, Spurs are trying to offload the four but there is an acceptance that their futures are unlikely to be resolved until the final week of the transfer window.
Those four players could follow Steven Bergwijn and Cameron Carter-Vickers out of the exit door after their moves to Ajax and Celtic respectively were confirmed. Meanwhile, Joe Rodon has joined Rennes for some valuable first-team experience and Jack Clarke has completed a switch to Sunderland.
After spending the second-half of last season on loan at Lyon, Ndombele is attracting interest from Champions League semi-finalists Villarreal and a number of other clubs across Europe. The Frenchman was Spurs’ record signing until Richarlison arrived from Everton, but he has failed to impress, making just 91 appearances across all competitions.
Like Ndombele, Lo Celso has been linked with The Yellow Submarine, but Spurs are yet to receive a bid for either midfielder. The Argentina international spent six months on loan at Villarreal last season and impressed, featuring in both legs as they crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool.

Spurs would prefer to offload Lo Celso permanently, with Fiorentina also showing an interest in the player, but the Italian club favours a loan deal. Ndombele has been offered by his agent to Newcastle, who are exploring other targets, with James Maddison amongst those mentioned.
Meanwhile, Winks’ situation is being monitored by Spanish club Valencia but there have so far been no bids for the England midfielder. Everton and Leicester were keen on the player earlier in the window but the duo’s interest has cooled, with the Toffees signing Amadou Onana and the Foxes keeping hold of Youri Tielemans.

Sevilla were interested in re-signing Reguilon before Alex Telles made the switch to the Spanish side on a season-long loan last month, while Brighton have expressed an interest in the Spaniard as a replacement for Marc Cucurella, who joined Chelsea in a deal worth around £55m plus add-ons.
Spurs could also allow Bryan Gil to leave on loan to continue his development, with Valencia and Real Sociedad in talks for the 21-year-old, who is training with the first-team squad and was on the bench on the opening day. Pape Matar Sarr is in the same position while Japhet Tanganga could be sold for the right fee, with AC Milan keen.
